11. Too Much CGI - Bodycam

The new found footage film from cult genre filmmaker Brandon Christensen (Z, Superhost) is a mostly solid outing, following a pair of cops who are called to an apparent domestic disturbance at a rundown house, only to discover something far more horrifying inside.

Christensen pulls off a ton of effectively low-fi frights, but as is so often the case with lower budget genre fare, things get tricky when attempting more conceptually ambitious, effects-driven fare.

There are several reality-bending sequences in the film which require the use of CGI, and while the ideas are great, the visuals themselves are simply too low-rent to fully pass muster.

This is especially true of the digital creature glimpsed at the end of the film, which looks cheap enough to be more of a distracting detriment than something that in any way enhances it.

Sometimes less is more, and where micro-budget filmmaking is concerned, VFX needs to be deployed with a huge amount of consideration for what can actually be realistically achieved.
