20 Recent Horror Movies That Made ONE Huge Mistake

3. Wasting Djimon Hounsou - Thrash

Tommy Wirkola's recent Netflix shark film Thrash is certainly well-cast, with Phoebe Dynevor ably portraying protagonist Lisa - a pregnant woman who finds herself trapped in a coastal town when a hurricane hits, leaving her fending off ravenous sharks.

The other major name in the movie is the ever-great Djimon Hounsou, who plays marine researcher Dr. Dale Edwards, and while Hounsou basically can't help but bring gravitas and authority to any role he plays, what a waste of his talents this was.

Hounsou - who, remember, is a two-time Oscar nominee - is largely relegated to regurgitating tired exposition while fighting to rescue his niece Dakota (Whitney Peak).

Hounsou's recent career has seen him far too often consigned to throwaway supporting roles in junky genre films such as this, but in the very least you'd hope these filmmakers would give an actor of his caliber some juicy dialogue or fun action to sink his teeth into.
