11. The Faculty Remake

Robert Rodriguez's 1998 sci-fi horror film The Faculty is a stupendously entertaining high school-set homage to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and from its cast to its overall vibe, it's firmly rooted in that distinct late '90s flavour.

But last year, a remake was confirmed to be in the works with Rodriguez himself set to return as a producer, while Companion filmmaker Drew Hancock serves as writer-director.

Again, The Faculty is such a time capsule of a movie, enlivened by Kevin Williamson's sizzling script and a killer cast of young up-and-comers, including Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Jordana Brewster, and Clea DuVall, that it's tough to picture a new take landing with nearly the same impact.

The smartest thing this remake could do is be as different as humanly possible, but even so, considering the original is a well-aged riot to this very day, there's not much interest in a retelling among genre fans.
