20 Upcoming Horror Movies NOBODY Asked For

5. Sleepaway Camp Remake

Sleepaway Camp is one of the most unforgettable slasher films of all time, in large part thanks to its shocking and wildly divisive ending, which has remained a talking point ever since its 1983 release.

Four mostly forgotten sequels have followed, but now a remake is on the way courtesy of a most unexpected party: SNL legend Kenan Thompson and his production company Artists for Artists.

While a new Sleepaway Camp directed by a young rising filmmaker could offer a more current take on the original picture's clumsily handled themes, Thompson has instead hired the original writer-director, Robert Hiltzik, to once again write and direct.

This is a remake that desperately needs a hungry, scrappy director at the helm, not the original filmmaker whose scant filmography suggests he's got little to bring to the table.

Or more to the point, Sleepaway Camp is probably better off left as a divisive cult horror movie.
