3. Scarlett Johansson - Scapegoat

Now, in fairness, we don't really anything about Ari Aster's new film Scapegoat, but considering that each of his previous four features have been different twisted flavours of horror in one way or another, it's a fair assumption that he'll stay the course for this one.

And Aster has already roped in one hell of a talent for the lead role - none other than Scarlett Johansson.

Johansson is a terrific actress, albeit one who hasn't really stretched herself much in the last few years, so it'll be great to see her playing around in Aster's absolutely unhinged cinematic sandbox. She's proven in roles like Under the Skin, Marriage Story, and Jojo Rabbit that she's willing to totally give herself over to the right story and character, and whatever Aster's film ends up being, there's little doubt that she'll deliver some of the finest work of her career.

Aster being Aster, though, there's basically no chance the Academy gives it a second look, no matter how probably-amazing Johansson will be in it.
