20. Austin Abrams - Resident Evil

Zach Cregger's adaptation of hit video game franchise Resident Evil will star Austin Abrams, and while many initially assumed he might be playing series icon Leon Kennedy, he's actually set to portray an entirely original character - an embattled organ courier by the name of Bryan.

Now, Abrams' performance in Cregger's previous film, Weapons, was a perfect showcase for how brilliantly he can portray someone who is hopelessly, at times hilariously in over their head. So, it's easy to see why Cregger wanted to reunite with him for this role, with Bryan being a Totally Regular Dude who finds himself suddenly fighting to survive an undead apocalypse against all odds.

From the trailer, it's clear that Abrams will bring a whole ton of relatable humanity to the character, which already puts this loose adaptation leagues ahead of every other Resident Evil movie to date, even if some fans are miffed that Cregger isn't hewing closer to the source material.
