It's not uncommon for extremely popular music to be relatively uninteresting. That doesn't mean that it's bad, necessarily €“ it just appeals to a very wide demographic, and so takes less risks when it comes to alienating potential listeners. Nor is that to say that interesting music can't be popular €“ these things are, after all, generalities.

With that said, sometimes the music industry experiences a different phenomenon. Sometimes popular music isn't safe OR interesting, it's just...terrible. You know what I mean. Everybody has that one song that they can't understand why it sold so well or why it was played so much on the radio. When you stop and think about it, it's not even that uncommon of an experience.

Many of these tunes we're embarrassed to admit ever having liked. Others we've attempted to block out from our collective conscious. But this list compiles songs that no matter how hard we try, we'll never forget celebrating.
