This is how the Wind Shifts was Silversteins first album since the departure of lead guitarist Neil Boshart, who was replaced by Paul-Marc Rosseau. He certainly brings a fresh sound to the Canadian band and does not seem out of place in the slightest, despite Bosharts unquestionable success during his 13 years with the band, Rosseau even briefly lends his vocals to one of the tracks. It is a concept album, which isnt always clear at times. However some outstanding tracks such as Massachusetts and In Silent Seas We Drown make up for that with the perfect combination of clean and unclean vocals from Shane Told, as well as some extraordinarily strong choruses. If you're a fan of any of the bands on this list but haven't checked out Silverstein yet, listen to this album and the chances are you will have a new favourite band.
