10. Me & You Together Song – Notes On A Conditional Form (2020)

Notes On A Conditional Form is an odd record. It contains some incredible tunes but there’s also a lot of filler that should have been removed.

‘Me & You Together Song’ falls into the former category, and it’s essentially a throwback to the pop-rock sound of the late 1990s and the early 2000s. Indeed, it wouldn’t feel out of place in an American Pie movie. The prominent guitar lines from Hann are pretty rather than punchy, and the warm vocals from Healy sit comfortably alongside the adolescent, party-inspired lyrics.

In addition to the nostalgic atmosphere, the song is also incredibly catchy. The whole thing is one massive hook, and the transitions between the various parts of the song are so smooth you hardly notice them.

There isn’t much depth to the track, but that’s not really a problem. ‘Me & You Together Song’ is a great tribute to the band’s youth and it’s easily one of their most accessible tunes.
