Those demos provide a fascinating glimpse into the genesis and growth of what would become Wilco’s most revered and beloved record. And unlike A Magazine Called Sunset, you can easily envisage how Venus Stop The Train could have fitted onto Yankee Hotel Foxtrot had the band included it.

Late multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett provides the song’s only musical accompaniment, a mournful piano, as well sharing lead vocal duties with Jeff Tweedy. It’s a poignant reminder that, despite Bennett and Tweedy’s very public falling out and the former’s acrimonious sacking, when working together they could produce music of a rare, timeless beauty.
