10 Biggest Breakups In Rock And Roll History

2. Guns N Roses

In the early days of Guns N Roses, everything seemed to be moving at about a mile a minute. Aside from the amazing tunes they were giving us night after night, it seemed like the band were starting to grow up incredibly quickly, with the Use Your Illusion albums being the pinnacle of their ambitions. When you grow up that quickly, you also start to tolerate your bandmates less and less.

During the disastrous tour for the Illusion records, everything started to come off the rails, with Slash in particular almost dying from a drug overdose a few times. Along with the lush after parties Axl Rose would throw after the show, things started to get tense when Axl made the rest of the band sign over the rights to the name Guns N Roses. Not every show was a home run either, with some dates involving Axl showing up late or ending in a riot when he decided to not show up at all.

By the time everyone got back home, the lackluster covers album The Spaghetti Incident pretty much confirmed that the band were on shaky ground. As work began on the next record Chinese Democracy, the dictatorship became too much, with everyone except for Axl abandoning ship and leaving him to sort things out on his own. Once Chinese Democracy eventually came out over a decade later, it wasn't Guns N Roses. It was the Axl Rose and Friends Show.
