10 Classic Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row

10. Outlandos D'Amour to Synchronicity - The Police

As the punk wave drew to a close, the new wave scene ended up progressing by leaps and bounds. Whereas bands like the Ramones and Sex Pistols were deadset on destruction, bands like Devo and the Eurythmics brought things to a more artsy level with songs that felt emotionally synthetic. Sting and the Police may have fit that bill at first, but with each passing record they became one of the most interesting trios in modern music.

Outlandos D'Amour showed the band's punkish tendencies nicely, but later releases like Zenyatta Mondatta and Reggatta de Blanc led them to toy with their styles, with songs like "Message in a Bottle" and "Walking in the Moon" having a distinct reggae flavor to them. Even with the more worldly departures, they never stopped creating fantastic pop tunes like on "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic."

For as great a run as the band had, things started to come off the rails after the release of Synchronicity. Though the album featured their biggest hit "Every Breath You Take," the creative struggles between the three members led to the band folding shortly after the promotional tour. We may not have seen any new Police records since, but with a stunning back catalog, it might be best not to mess with perfection.
