10 Classic Rock Bands That Released Three Perfect Albums In A Row

10. AC/DC

Already famed for their earlier sensational albums High Voltage and Let There Be Rock, hard rock wizards AC/DC produced a spectacular triple outing in a manic two year stretch between 1979 and 1981.

The band blew the doors off the rock world with 1979's Highway to Hell; featuring arguably the most recognizable rock anthem of all time in the form of the titular track. This was the first time that an AC/DC LP had debuted in the US Top 100 and garnered them rock royalty status amongst a global audience.

In a tragic game changer however, legendary frontman Bonn Scott died of alcohol poisoning in London in 1980, leading the band to consider disbanding. After eventually persevering and spectacularly stepping things up another gear, AC/DC's piece de resistance Back in Black debuted later in the same year.

The album to this day remains the highest selling album by any band in history and introduced the world to some of the band's most beloved songs such as You Shook Me All Night Long and Shoot To Thrill; the band touchingly dedicated the album to the late great Scott.

The Australian outfit rounded things off with a bang. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) blasted across radio stations for the first time worldwide from November of 1981, which was hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as AC/DC's best work to date.
