10 Classic Songs That Were Recorded Incredibly Fast

10. Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith

At the start of the '70s, Aerosmith seemed to really come into their own on Toys in the Attic. Written just as Steven Tyler and Joe Perry refined their songwriting approach, records like the title track and Walk This Way became the blueprint for what they would become going forward. However, the most indicative song of this era of the band was actually brought up as an afterthought at the end of recording.

Knowing they needed one more song to fill out the record, producer Jack Douglas suggested that anyone who had a spare riff should work on it over the next few days. Coming through with one of the great basslines in rock history, Tom Hamilton's groove ended up becoming the basis of Sweet Emotion, with Tyler filling in lyrics about his tense relationship with Perry's girlfriend at the time.

Looking to just be a tongue in cheek joke song for the back half of the record, Emotion became a whole different beast once brought into the studio, as the group added everything from backwards music to even sugar shakers on the intro to get just the right tribal sound for the final mix. Little did we know that was just the beginning of Aerosmith's rise to the top of the rock world.
