10 Greatest Drummers Of All Time

By Christopher Jennings /

3. Neil Peart

Stand Out Track: Tom Sawyer, the opening track from 1981€™s €˜Moving Pictures€™ album. Insanely skilled and technically astonishing, Neil Peart is the driving force behind Rush; the world€™s biggest cult band. His meticulously composed, fiendishly complex arrangements and use of odd-time signatures has enabled him to carve out a reputation as one of the most unique and talented drummers of his generation. Peart is equally impressive when providing a punishing attack on Rush€™s earlier, classic rock sounding, albums as he is when the band were pushing boundaries on their later, more progressive, works. Still going strong to this day, Rush€™s latest album €˜Clockwork Angels€™ has been declared a real return to form for the band; it appears Peart has much yet to show us.
