Seriously though, whilst Mastodon represent one of the purest ways to command any mass populace into a miasma of headbanging and horn-throwing, they've arguably never had one "big song" you could hang a headline performance on.
With that in mind, the majority of Download attendees would always know more tracks than they think, with the sheer "Go.BATSH*T" feeling of something like Blood & Thunder winning over any naysayers with its opening riff alone.
If given the chance, Mastodon could assemble one hell of a Download setlist. Curl of the Burl, March of the Fire Ants, Steambreather, Black Tongue - not to mention the bouncy-as-hell, more singalong delights of Show Yourself or The Motherload.
Mastodon are a headliner in waiting. Simple as.
