10 Hard Rock Music Artists Who Released Two Great Albums In The Same Year
2. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath & Paranoid
Right, that's it. No more self-titled debuts after this one. You've had your fill.
Judas Priest's Birmingham buddies and metal forerunners Black Sabbath were also instrumental in shaping the sound of the genre towards the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s.
After playing their first show as Sabbath in August 1969 and signing a record deal later that year, the group's first album came out in February of the new decade. We could list a bunch of songs off it, but we could also tell you that most critics regard it as the first ever heavy metal album.
Yeah, that should do the trick.
What we are going to do is list off songs from their next album - September's Paranoid.
Aside from the title track - which was originally written as "filler" for the album - Paranoid is home to War Pigs, Iron Man, Fairies Wear Boots, and so much more great stuff. It consistently ranks among the best albums ever made, metal or otherwise, and has left a legacy on the business that few others could ever hope to achieve.
Also, the cover's really nice too.
