Anyone who watched Spitting Image will understand this video completely, but to a modern audience there is definitely something scary about the grotesque caricature puppets. Phil Collins's likeness is particularly creepy in the video for Land of Confusion. He almost looks like actor Jim Broadbent from a distance! The idea of Ronald Reagan as Superman is also quite sobering. In a complete non sequitur the video goes back to prehistoric times. The celebrities satirized on Spitting Image read like a who's who of the mid-1980s. Collins and co failed to chart in the top ten at home, but reached number four in the US in 1986. Land of Confusion is consistently odd from start to finish.
