Teenage Dirtbag ranks highly on almost everyone's list of coming-of-age tunes. It crops up occasionally at some randomers house party looking for neutrally nostalgic pop song that won't cause offence. The spoken word tale of a loser trying to vie for the attention of his high school crush Noelle may be a little smushy, but don't pretend that you don't know they lyrics - because deep down weren't we all teenage dirtbags at some point. Everyone has a soft spot for this track even today's youth as it's managed to re-enter the UK Top 40 twice in the last three years. Wheatus we're always a band that never quite popped so it seems a shame we couldn't have let them had a number one with Dirtbag. Guess they'll have to sleep knowing that their signature song was a runner-up.
