10 Iconic Music Festivals You Must Attend In 2020
10. MetalDays
MetalDays has earned its spot on this list, not so much for the bands it books as for the camping experience provided. Located in Tolmin, Slovenia, MetalDays’ campsite is situated amidst a forest with a massive river which runs through the middle and surrounds one of the most scenic festival arenas in the world.
Hosting bands such as Judas Priest, Behemoth and Amon Amarth, attendees can float down the river on a variety of inflatable vessels to enjoy a mosh pit and a horn of ale on the beach, with one stage located there, as well as others dotted across a grassy arena.
MetalDays is committed to keeping their festival more small-scale and intimate than others in this article. As such, they have capped their ticket allocation to 12,000 since 2010. With this being the case, demand far outweighs the supply, so you’ll need to be quick off your mark to grab a ticket when they’re on sale.
What an experience MetalDays would be, though. Steve Hughes famously once referenced Bloodstock by saying there was nothing funnier than a goth in a dodgem. Clearly he hadn’t been to Slovenia to see one bobbing around drunk in a rubber ring, being sunburned.
