Whether it’s those iconic first notes of Welcome to the Black Parade, playing Hybrid Theory on a loop, arguing about the merits of Nickelback or screaming along to every word of Mr Brightside, the decade is known for great bands.

It’s one thing to be the best band of a decade, but it’s another to be just as good and relevant almost 20 years later. It takes a lot to continue to kill it over the course of almost two decades, to stay in the public eye, move with the times and stay true to yourselves, but here are 10 bands that have done it - these are the true heavyweights.

10. Panic! At The Disco

Panic! at the Disco's career trajectory has been nothing short of incredible. Reaching their peak success, headlining arenas and hitting No1 on the Billboard charts for the first time in 2018, the band broke through 14 years into their career. Panic! At the Disco have always been big, but they were big in the rock scene - now everybody knows their name.

Panic! have never been content in making the same record twice and as a result, they have a back catalogue that goes from sounding like The Beatles doing folk, to arena rock anthems and pop hits. They’re as much a part of the 2000s emo legacy as they are modern pop because of the way Brendon Urie follows his musical desires and evolves their sound.

The band have become very much ‘Brendon Urie’s band’ with him being the only remaining member and sole mastermind behind each album, but that’s fine, Urie is a powerhouse of a musician and an even better singer. If you learn anything from Panic!, it’s to always be your best self because the success you crave is only a step away.
