10 Incredible Oasis Songs That Weren't Singles

9. The Turning

Finding its way onto 2008's 'Dig Out Your Soul', 'The Turning' provides the album's central groove, one that is followed throughout the 8 or 9 tracks that follow it. Curiously, it's a song that changed drastically during the recording process; going from a soft, solo-career John Lennon-type folk song (as you can hear below), to the psychedelic rock monster that it resembled upon completion. Never even played live, it remains a casualty of the last fractious year in Oasis' lifespan. Its one of the more adventurous songs from the band's career, using bass chords, jangly pianos, and a 50-piece choir (the only songs from the recording session to do so, thanks to another Gallagher brother conflict), yet it still retains a sense of Oasis-ism to its nature - dynamic power, confident swagger, and understated harmonies from Liam and Noel.
