10 Laughable Post-Grunge Bands You Won't Believe Are Still Going

5. Filter

While Filter wasn't the most prolific band in their early years, Short Bus perfectly defined the excess, anger and despondency of the post-Cobain years. Filter would continue through the mid 90s releasing some of the most decade-defining music. "Jurassitol", "Trip Like I Do" (with The Chemical Brothers) reaching their logical conclusion with their 1998 cover of Harry Nilsson's "One". This would be the final recording that vocalist Richard Patrick would produce with founding member Brian Liesegang. It would not be until 1999's Title of Record that Filter would cross over into mainstream consciousness with the middling ode to hard partying, "Take a Picture". While Patrick would continue on with the band, ditching members as it suited him. 2003 would see the band going on hiatus until 2008 with the release of "Anthems For The Damned". This album would continue the trend of middling industrial metal and rock balladry that people stopped caring about after Hellbilly Deluxe. Though, Filter would not reach their creative nadir until 2011 with an obscenely toothless cover of ZZ Top's "Gimme All Your Lovin'". Still, questionable artistic choices aside, the future looks bright for Filter with their 2013 full length The Sun Comes Out Tonight on the notable Christian rock label, Wind-up Records.
