10 Legendary Rock And Metal Bands You Must See Before You Die

2. Rush

Prog-rock icons Rush are legendary for fantastic live shows, and that's well-earned: they have an amazing ability to sound crystal clear live while still putting on drum, bass, and guitar clinics (pay particular attention to Neil Peart). And a little known fact: they're surprisingly heavier than you'd expect live. Rush are also well-known for extended shows (they take an intermission at the half-way mark) that can come close to four hours, and tour without any opening bands (seriously, what upcoming band would want to get blown off stage like that?). Their stage-show is top-notch with custom videos featuring band members and various characters, and their prog-rock mentality translates into a quirky sense of humour that matches the music. And yes, Geddy Lee's voice isn't what you want to hear on a romantic ballad any time soon, but that's not what Rush are doing, and what they are doing - well they're the best at it.
