10 Masterpiece Albums Everyone Ignored
10. Feeling Strangely Fine - Semisonic
There's probably a good chance that people just think of Semisonic as "the Closing Time guys." Even though each respective member have made waves in the music industry since their initial hit, it always comes back to this borderline campfire song that dominated the charts back in the '90s. While they never had a real true hit to their name, Feeling Strangely Fine is the one classic from the '90s that no one is talking about.
Yes...it does have Closing Time accounted for, but there are many subtle intricacies that make this album a must-listen. In lieu of listening to the one hit for the billionth time, try throwing on something like Singing In My Sleep, whose hook would have worked wonders if it didn't have to live up to its older brother's potential. Even some of the more sleeper songs on the album like This Will Be My Year have some clever writing bits on them, as songwriter Dan Wilson starts to come into his own as a pop force of nature.
It's not like that didn't go unnoticed either, as Wilson would soon become a popular writer behind the scenes, where he penned lyrics and music for everyone from Weezer to Adele. While Semisonic may not have been the most photogenic of groups, their first reach for stardom is the one album from the '90s you may need right now.
