Walking the fine line between outspoken and cancelled at present, Marilyn Manson is no stranger to receiving heat from the general public.

Manson has always been viewed as a negative influence on younger fans by a mainstream audience, while Rolling Stone described him as the 'monster hiding in plain sight' in 2021. Stories and rumours of Manson's odd demeanour have never been in short supply thanks to his shock value presentation. These rumours include some rather graphic tales of body morphing for sexual benefits which paint incredibly unsavoury images in your mind. But the glaring reality of his unregulated persona didn't truly come to light until 2020.

In 2021, Billboard provided a rundown of several allegations which have surfaced against the singer over the years, with the most notable coming from his former partner, Evan Rachel Wood. Wood accused Manson or sexual exploitation, manipulation and controlling her lifestyle. In response, Manson posted the following to his Instagram account:

Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.

Other sexual assault allegations against Manson date back to the late '90s and he was first formally charged for sexual misconduct in 2001, when he was handed a $4,000 fine for assaulting a security guard at a show in Michigan.

Despite being described as the anti-Christ poster boy on several occasions, it seems Manson may have converted to Christianity in recent months and aligned himself with equally controversial rapper, Kanye West.
