10 Most Popular ANTI-Rockstars

3. Thom Yorke

At the dawn of the '90s, it was almost expected that the new bands coming down the pipeline be populated by anti rockstars. As the alternative movement started rolling, the new kids of the rock scene were either not too caught up in the celebrity scene (i.e. Pearl Jam) or worked as hard as they could to look like they could care less (i.e. Stone Temple Pilots). It's one thing to just be indifferent to your celebrity...it's something else to want to actively shun it.

Ever since Radiohead started to reach the big time off the success of their first hit Creep, Thom Yorke seemed absolutely loathsome about his own celebrity. Look no further than the famous clip of the band on MTV, where Yorke practically takes the piss and acts utterly frustrated during Anyone Can Play Guitar. As these guys went further down the musical rabbit hole though, Yorke found it more and more uncomfortable dealing with the internal drama of being in a band.

This would eventually come to a head on the OK Computer tour, when Yorke had a nervous breakdown after a show after he was nearly herded by a bunch of overzealous fans. Not only did this effect him on a psychological level, but also served as the beginning of Radiohead's departure from the norm, which would come out in spades on the divisive album Kid A. Though there's no one doubting the talent on display here, it would seem that Yorke would appreciate toning things down a bit.
