Psychedelia has come back into fashion as of late with bands like Tame Impala and the War on Drugs making great strides into the mainstream. One band who have not seen the same commercial success is the mystical Goat. Supposedly hailing from a small village named Korpilombolo in Sweden, this outfit create a musical soundscape that reaches for the outer realms of the musical spectrum. Indebted to the repetition of the krautrock genre more than anything, they create the perfect blend of religion and musical spirituality. Their debut release World Music was met with critical success but failed to chart outside of their native land, though they did deliver a blistering performance at Glastonbury in 2013 and were signed to Sub-Pop. Their latest release Commune is a continuation of the acid-induced, psychedelic sounds the group forged ahead with on their first album with the positively sweltering "Hide From The Sun" being a real highlight. If mind-bending Middle Eastern instrumentation and mantra like vocals is your thing, then these guys are not to be missed.
