There’s a glut of musicians who daydream of getting to play for audiences in arenas or stadiums for a living. And there’s musicians who do just that - only for the band to pull the rug from under them soon afterwards, kicking that person out the group.

Some acts do this regularly, going through an enormous amount of change in their line-ups through the years. Bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Lemonheads only have one original member and bands like Yes and Thin Lizzy have no original members whatsoever.

Change is the norm for some.

This is down to multiple reasons. Strained relationships, ego/self-esteem issues, or just the regular excuse of ‘creative differences’ can inevitably cause a band’s line-up to implode.

The petty quarrels and jealousy eventually take an emotional toll, whether it was Tom DeLonge quitting Blink 182 ‘indefinitely’ to go rummage for aliens, or Noel Gallagher ditching Oasis after brother Liam swung a guitar at him backstage.

In fact, backstage breakups are so common, that some of the world's most well-known lineups kicked people out you've never even heard of.
