10 Music Videos That Should Be Movies

6. Jamie T - Sheila

What Happens In The Video? The late, great Bob Hoskins walks along the South Bank of the River Thames in London late at night, lip-synching the lyrics to the song, about a girl called Sheila. He€™s clutching a bouquet of flowers for reasons that are unclear. As the song progresses and the video comes to a close, we realise that he€™s been singing about his daughter all along, and the flowers are to lay at her memorial; it€™s implied that she drunkenly fell into the Thames one night and drowned. What Would The Film Be About? A grieving father of course, attempting to recover from the traumatising death of his daughter. Rest in peace, Bob Hoskins; he brought more pathos to one lip-synching music video than any other actor could bring to a whole feature film on this concept. The anger, the sadness, all etched in his face. He would have been the only choice to star in a film based off of the video, obviously. Who Should Direct? The earthy, British setting and personal subject matter could be handled with aplomb by someone like Paddy Considine - as anyone who has seen Tyrannosaur will attest.
