Before becoming a blues legend, a young Johnny Cash enlisted in the air force. It was 1951 and he was sent to Germany to work as a Morse Code intercept operator. During his 3 year deployment, he proved himself a skilled breaker of coded Soviet messages. In fact, he was working when Stalin's death was announced, making him the first American to hear the news.
