10 Perfect Music Albums That Defined The 2010's
8. Lemonade - Beyonce
Not every album comes together under the same circumstance. While it's easy to just find a handful of bangers and put them in a decent order, the real professionals of their respective genres want to have some kind of overlapping theme that ties everything together. You can't get a stronger motivator than anger though, and Beyonce sounded like she was beyond pissed at the start of Lemonade.
Coming after allegations of Jay Z cheating on her, this entire record feels like a journey through the different parts of Yonce's heartache, as she tries to come to terms with the love of her life possibly being in jeopardy. She isn't just putting out anger for anger's sake though either, with songs like Don't Hurt Yourself and 6 Inch going for broke with the production, almost like you're right there in the room as she's about to tear her husband apart limb from limb.
That's not to say that the album is Beyonce's attempt to make an emo album or anything. Being in a relationship is all about your ability to grow, and this entire album really captures that mindset. From beginning to end, you see Beyonce go from disbelief to outright anger and pain to eventually finding some peace and learning to move past it. This is by far the most genuine Beyonce record that has ever been released, and Jay Z had better be counting his blessings that something like this doesn't happen again.
