10 Perfect Rock Songs That Were Written By Accident

2. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Bohemian Rhapsody stands as one of those few songs in rock history that reaches close to perfection. As much as Freddie Mercury may have thought over the movements of something like this, it stands as one of the few songs that feels like it's existed since the dawn of time. Which is strange considering that Freddie saw it as a practical frankenstein of a tune.

When the band were making a Night at the Opera, Freddie definitely had plans for this tune, only for everything to go a little haywire during the writing process. While the ballad section of the song that starts everything off was intact, Freddie was always having trouble connecting it with the operatic section of the track, which seemed to come out of nowhere from his perspective. The only solution: just throw them all together.

Since this song barely follows the conventions of any other pop song, Freddie figured that he'd just keep the bits in as is, only connecting the different sections by a few guitar licks before dropping us into the operatic section without any warning. For any other band, this kind of thing would have come off as cheesy or amateurish, but the fine details that the band sprinkled in made the whole song feel like one long journey by the end of the track. If anything, that just speaks to the fearlessness that Queen always had with their music. Structure is for the weak, so it's better to just do whatever the hell you want.
