10 Pop Songs That Artists Want You To Forget

8. Do What You Want - Lady Gaga

Every single one of Lady Gaga's records thus far has felt like an event. Going through her discography, Gaga isn't one for subtlety all that often, so it would make sense that the rollout for an album like Artpop would be larger than life, trying to meld the concept of high art with popular music. That didn't mean the bangers stopped, but one of them is not holding up to the passage of time at all.

Going through Do What You Want, this is the exact kind of song that Gaga promised, talking about people in the industry who see her as an object. For her part, it's very good, until the feature from R Kelly comes in and makes things extremely uncomfortable. Does he sound good? Yes. Then again, we have a man who is known for being a now convicted sexual predator on a song that explicitly says that he's going to do what he wants with this girl's body.

Yeah, you'd need rose colored glasses the size of traffic cones to justify why this song even got made, and Gaga has since put out a statement saying that she wishes to distance herself from the recording going forward. This isn't just a publicity thing either, as most of the Artpop albums on streaming services get rid of this song from the track listing entirely. There are the usual pop singles that sound dated, and then there's songs like this that are actively trying to purge themselves out of existence.
