10 Rap Albums That Rock Fans Need To Check Out

3. Stankonia - Outkast

As rap made its way into the '00s, it had really grown up since the era of Sugarhill Gang back in the day. Throughout the '90s, rap had gotten dangerous, making the likes of Tupac and Biggie Smalls superstars for the wild lives they led on different sides of the US. While the influx of new gangsta rap flinging their beef amongst the East and West coast had hip hop's ear, there was a little something cooking up down south that any music fan could get down on.

Not really looking to stir up anything with their competition, Outkast delivered one of the most eclectic batches of hip hop tunes known to man on Stankonia, having as many musical hooks as they did impeccable flows. Along with the straight hip hop bars you would get from the likes of Big Boi, Andre 3000 was already coming into his own as a superstar in his own right, balancing his rap style with occasional singing bits that tied everything together on tracks like So Fresh So Clean.

Though it didn't manage to do too well on the charts, you have not lived until you've heard B.O.B, which has a backing track to get you hyped from the minute it starts playing, whether you're a rock fan or otherwise. It may have some rap clothing on, but this is the kind of electric performances that you would get on any rock album from around the same time.
