10 Reasons There Won't Ever Be Another Prince
4. Prince Was Just As Prolific Behind The Scenes
Aside from his aforementioned production skills that he used to mix his first albums, Prince exhibited a natural gift for songwriting. He was a genius writer who said he often dreamed the ideas for his songs - just in case you were wondering where some of his more bizarre tunes came from.
But he didn't just write songs for himself. In fact, there's a pretty good chance that one of your favorite non-Prince songs from the 80s was written by The Purple One.
He wrote three songs off The Time's most successful album, Ice Cream Castle, with a co-writing credit on their biggest hit "Jungle Love." He also wrote songs for Cyndi Lauper, The Bangles, Madonna, Patti Labelle, Sheena Easton, and MC Hammer.
The fact that most of the songs he wrote and distributed to other artists became pretty popular in their own right ("Manic Monday" was The Bangles' biggest hit) proves just how much of an ear Prince had for his own sound. He knew which songs would work for his own records and which would be better for used by others.
