Forbes magazine releases an annual "Hip Hop Cash Kings" list, ranking that year's highest hip hop earners. As the title suggests, it's an almost exclusively male list. However, in 2011, Minaj became the first woman to appear on the list and she's been on it every year since. She currently sits at number 10, having earned $21 million in the last 12 months. For a woman to succeed at all in the male-dominated hip hop world is an impressive feat, achieved only by greats such as Missy Elliot and Salt-N-Pepa. To reach the heights Minaj has reached is unheard of- until now. Though it's unwise to measure success entirely based on financial returns, in a world and industry where the dollar is king, it's worth acknowledging that Nicki has got herself well paid.
