10 Rock Bands That Kept The Same Lineup
2. ZZ Top
Ever since the '60s, the idea of rock and roll sticking to its roots never really sat well with the pioneers of the genre. Since the Beatles' started innovating back in the '60s, it would make no sense trying to play the same kind of song over and over again and hope for the best, right? Well, sometimes you need to get in touch with the roots to figure out just why you got into the music in the first place.
Although originally coming from the psychedelic scene in the American South, ZZ Top transformed into one of the greatest blues rock acts still working today. Having some of the meatiest grooves on songs like Tush and La Grange, the real allure of the band lies in Billy Gibbons, who's delicate touch on his guitar provided licks that were as luscious as his gigantic mane of a beard.
Aside from the normal blues rock that you're used to, ZZ Top also managed to get some real lip service in the early days, with Jimi Hendrix calling Gibbons one of his all time favorite guitar players. Especially high praise coming from the greatest guitarist of all time, but when you start off as a little old band from Texas, there's no way you're ever going to half-ass grooves like this.
