Let's start off with an answer to a question that's been on every fan's mind for ages: Why are they called The Killers?

You'd expect that name from a punk or metal band, not a clean cut alternative rock group like them. So, where exactly did they get their name?

The answer is actually pretty simple and straightforward. Frontman Brandon Flowers had always loved British music his whole life and the name comes from a music video for the song 'Crystal' by one of his favorite bands New Order.

In the video the main band is replaced with younger band of cool teenagers called The Killers. Their name wasn't the only thing inspired by 'Crystal' too, as the music video for 'Somebody Told Me' takes heavy influence from it.

As an interesting side trivia, Flowers has actually played along side New Order on stage while that band's own frontman, Bernard Sumner, has joined The Killers on stage. Few people ever get a chance to meet their heroes, and when they do it tends to not work out so well. It's a cool tidbit of information that the opposite happened here.

Anyway, there you have it kids. The not-so-mystery of the band's name has been solved.
