10 Times Dave Grohl Was An Absolute Legend

7. Making A Toy Drum Kit Sound Amazing

Doing promo work can be hard for even the most easygoing of artists. Endless hours of interviews, photoshoots, signings, and sitting in front of a camera and reading from a script for any number of TV station adverts. But once in a while, an opportunity for a bit of fun presents itself in the most unusual of scenarios. In 2006, whilst in Iceland doing some promo work, both Grohl and Foo's drummer Taylor Hawkins stopped by at a music store to so a signing for a competition winner. The signing included putting their autographs on a kid-sized drum kit. Comically, the (incredibly Icelandic) guys that worked in the store managed to coerce the former Nirvana drummer to have a go on it, and while Grohl was initially hesitant with concerns that he might break it, he eventually went for it. It may have only been 10 seconds, but it was 10 of the finest drumming seconds ever recorded, and a pretty great story to tell for anyone who might come across that drum kit again.
