10 Times Rock Bands Trolled You

2. The Beatles - I Am The Walrus

The quintessential track for a band trolling both the press and the fans, it has been stated that John Lennon wrote I Am the Walrus to confuse all who tried to interpret his songs. Of course, rumours of Paul McCartney’s death were circulating at the time so Beatlefans were at their peak of looking for clues into anything.

This hasn’t stopped this nonsense song from being overanalysed, and beloved with iconic lines such as “I am he as you are he as you are me / And we are all together”.

The lyrics created mysterious identities of the Eggman and the Walrus for fans to decipher, the latter of which would revealed as Paul in 1968's Glass Onion.

It has been said that this song provided the inspiration for Dr. Eggman, the nemesis of the Sonic the Hedgehog videogames. We couldn’t even be sure if that fact is trolling as well, in the jovial spirit of the song.

The first song recorded following the death of their manager Brian Epstein, it must have been cathartic for The Fab Four to work on a song with absolutely no meaning for a change.

A quintessential Beatles track, even if its only statement is not saying anything at all.
