10 Underrated Albums By Legendary Bands

2. Vapor Trails - Rush

Rush's music is something that can't confined to one specific trend. Through all the changes in musical direction over three decades, this power trio has been able to carry on with their unique form of prog rock with one of the most rabid fanbases the rock world has ever seen. The diehards love them all, but Vapor Trails tends to stand out mainly as something good rather than great.

On the other hand, the story behind this record is one of superhuman triumph. During the band's previous tour, drummer Neil Peart lost both his wife and daughter within the span of year, which left him incredibly adrift. Everyone was concerned if Peart would ever return to the band, but after a few years, the band was born again and released one of their most poignant records.

While every Rush song sends you in a journey, Peart's earnest reflection on his time away is some of the most soul-touching words he has ever written. Though the original got flack for being a victim of the loudness wars, the songs are still some of the best to come out of the band's later period. It's not technically a bona fide classic, but Vapor Trails shows how resilient Rush's music can be even when things are at their most grim.
