10 Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of The '90s

3. The Spaghetti Incident - Guns N Roses

After years of hellraising on the road, Guns N Roses came off of the tour for Use Your Illusion weather-beaten. In the process of going around the world twice, they had lost Izzy Stradlin, very nearly lost Slash to a drug overdose, and had to deal with the ongoing antics of Axl Rose along the way. Even though the Spaghetti Incident was supposed to bring them back to their roots, these refreshing cover tunes ended up being the group's final gasp.

That being said, it's astonishing to think that these guys sound this good even when performing at half capacity. Kicking back with a bunch of songs they had loved from their youth, the track listing practically runs the gamut between hard rock and the gritty side of punk, courtesy of bassist Duff McKagan. While there are some great classic rock tunes like Hair of the Dog, the most exciting parts of the record are where they tear through more raucous material like FEAR's I Don't Care About You.

Instead of the flameout that many Guns fans were probably picturing, you can kind of see how this was supposed to be just a fun little aside to keep listeners satisfied until Chinese Democracy eventually came out...13 years later. Though this is nowhere near the same heights as something like Appetite for Destruction, the Spaghetti Incident marks the final send-off for the core lineup of one of rock's most dangerous bands.
