10 Weirdest Replacement Members In Rock History
4. Matt Deighton - Oasis
I'm hoping that we're not unleashing a bombshell here by saying that the Gallagher Brothers don't exactly get along all that well. From the minute that Oasis started, it felt like their hatred towards each other was one of the main draws of the band, down to the single of them arguing actually turning up on the hit parade. When Oasis were reinventing themselves in the '00s though, it looked like the egos were getting too big for both Gallaghers to be in the band.
After one too many brawls, there were some reports saying that Noel was looking to leave the band for good, which would probably be around the 5th time that something like that came out. This one did have some weight behind it though, with Matt Deighton playing a few dates with the band during the limbo period when Noel declined to participate in the next tour. As much as this felt like the logical conclusion at the time, are we just going to that this is OASIS?
From day one, Noel Gallagher had written nearly all of the songs for the band, and his natural way with melody wasn't going to remain with only Liam as the original member, much less with the rest of the band being replaced as well. Noel did end up making a return though, and managed to stay the course with Oasis until the final straw happened almost a decade later before an appearance in Paris. Even with all of the fighting and the bad blood between them, Oasis has always been more than just Liam or just Noel. These brothers are a package deal, and without one of them in the fold, there is no band.
