11 Reasons You Should Definitely Date A Guitar Player

No jokes about strumming.

How do you decide whether or not to date somebody? Chances are, it’s a combination of two or three things. Appearance inevitably plays a part. Admit it. No matter how altruistic or deep you may be, looks will always be taken into consideration. This isn’t to say, of course, that the object of your affections needs to be conventionally attractive—perhaps you’re into guys with grey beards or girls with dragon tattoos—just that their appearance probably matters, at least to some extent.

Next on the list is personality. For pretty much everybody, except the ultra-shallow (you know who you are), personality is just as—if not more—important than appearance. Because no matter how aesthetically-striking they may be, if a person spends all of their waking hours looking in the mirror and displaying the conversational acumen of a rock, it’s probably not going to work out between you.

And then there are the peripheral details. Like their job, their friendship groups, and their taste in music. These probably aren’t enough to entice you towards/entirely put you off a person, but they’re still pretty relevant.

Especially if they’re a guitar player.

Because people who play the guitar have a very particular set of skills; skills they’ve acquired over years of playing; skills that make them perfect partners.

11. They're More Chilled Out Than Other People

As any guitar player knows, few things are more relaxing after a stressful day than to sit down, guitar in hand, and strum random chords for half an hour. Unfortunately, most other people don’t have this quick and easy de-stressing solution. They have to find other ways, like buying a punch bag, or taking up yoga, or doing drugs or something.

By dating a guitar player, then, you’ll have somebody who can chill in minutes, even after the most stressful of days, making them far less likely to get annoyed when you want to put on that Judge Rinder omnibus you recorded last week.
