In an attempt to capitalise on the success of their breakthrough single, follow-up singles including ‘Not Gonna Get Us’ were released but each release found deteriorating levels of success.

A cover of The Smiths’ ‘How Soon Is Now?’ seemingly put a nail in their coffin and highlighted the dwindling interest the mainstream audience now had in the Russian music duo.

Their version of ‘How Soon Is Now?’ was a pale imitation of the original and did more harm than good for tATu, particularly in the eyes of the devoted Smiths fan base.
