15 Best Disturbed Tracks

9. The Night

This is an interesting song. It was never released as a single, and has often been overlooked in many lists of Disturbed’s greatest songs. And yet, it’s one of their best, especially when one listens to David Draiman’s excellent vocal work. His staccato voice is put on display throughout, as he transitions from one line to another with seamless perfection.

In terms of message, David has stated that this song’s about the personification of night as this living, breathing creature. Moreover, unlike most of their other songs, which speak of a foreboding evil or malicious force, this song presents ‘the Night’ as a good thing, as force of liberation that brings about joy and redemption. Small wonder why virtually all rock concerts happen at night: bands like Disturbed have embraced the liberating force of such a thing.

Then, of course, is the sick guitar solo during the bridge. Once again, we’re given the privilege of listening to Dan Donegan’s excellent guitar work is outstanding, well worth repeating several times.

Furthermore, in the music video for this song, you can see his hard work in action as he strums his guitar with perfect hand motions. This is but one of the many reasons why so many Disturbed fans love Donegan’s work.

Best Lyrics:

“The source of my felicity
Dark maiden taking hold of my hand
Lead me away from hibernation
Strong and unafraid, never a question why”
