6. Tremonti - So You're Afraid (2:32)

Sometimes you just want to hear someone crank up the furious dials and belt out as many notes as possible as fast as they can - and come the point following a thundering breakdown where this solo kicks in, it'll damn-near take your head off. Alter Bridge's Mark Tremonti is a man dyed in the wool of Slayer, Celtic Frost and Metallica to name but three, and his solo work shows someone simply bursting at the seams to unleash the metal-tinged beast, creating perfect melds of infectious chorus lines, brutal riffs and in this case, one hell of a display of talent all in a four minute package. You can only hope there's some of this unabashedly ridiculous playing caked over next year's newly-announced AB album too.
