The recording process for Born in the USA was a protracted one with the sessions taking place sporadically across three years. In the wake of the solo and melancholic Nebraska Springsteen recorded many songs where he played all of the instruments himself (with the aide of a drum machine). Unsatisfied Heart is one of the best of the bunch and remains unreleased, save for its presence on a couple of bootleg albums. Dutch rock band Vitesse also did a nice cover in the 1980s.
