20 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time

By Reverend Rock /

12. Angus Young (21)

Speaking of iconic opening bars of songs, how many is AC/DC€™s Angus Young responsible for? The lead riff from €œThunderstruck€ is instantly recognizable, a rock classic, as are many other Young riffs. AC/CD came out of Australia in €™74 following the formula of the day: play blues based rock louder and faster than anyone else. While continuing to play live and release new music, Young and his mates have never again reached the dizzying heights achieved with their 1980 release, Back in Black.

11. Zakk Wylde (18)

Is there a more symbiotic relationship in rock/metal than the one between Zakk Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne? The argument could be made that one without the other would be a mere shadow in light of who they are together. Would Black Label Society still be a smokin€™ southern tinged metal outfit with moderate commercial success? Perhaps, but where would Osbourne be without Zakk? After the departure of the ill-fitting Jake E. Lee, Ozzy was desperately in need of a refresh. Enter Wylde, a young phenom with the chops, attitude and stage presence to resuscitate Ozzy€™s career through the €˜90€™s and beyond.
